PAST EVENT: One night only: Sat, July 6, 2024: Guild Festival Theatre launches its 2024 season with Evalyn Parry’s SPIN. Inspired in part by the incredible true story of Annie Londonderry, the first woman to ride around the world on a bicycle in 1895, this theatrical journey takes the audience from 19th century women’s emancipation to the present day, forging unexpected links across time and history.
PAST EVENT: Two performances only - Sat, June 22 & Sun, June 23, 2024 : FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre presents the world premiere of Bravo Niagara!'s Kimiko’s Pearl, a powerful new Canadian ballet reflecting the tragedies, triumphs & perseverance of a Japanese Canadian family and the irrevocable impact of the WWII internment experience on their lives & that of their descendants. This is the first time this story has been told through ballet.

One night only - Thu, June 13, 2024: Native Earth Performing Arts & Buddies in Bad Times Theatre present the 8th edition of the 2-Spirit Cabaret, produced as part of Buddies’ Queer Pride Festival. A celebration of the strength, beauty & talent of queer & 2-Spirit Indigenous people hosted by Chelazon Leroux, it will feature music, dance, drag, performance art & comedy.

Headliners include distinguished musicians Amahl Arulanandam (cello) & Aiko Oda (clarinet), alongside the mesmerizing Navillera Korean Performing Arts Development dance group & the captivating voice of singer Arlene, performing classical masterpieces & contemporary gems.

When a boys’ night out goes awry, two Black men are compelled to examine their pasts & their friendship. A thought-provoking examination of Black masculinity & mental health. For audiences 14+.

From Sat, Apr. 20 – Sun, May 12, 2024: Studio 180 Theatre presents the Canadian premiere of James Fritz’s taut, darkly comic & deeply provocative drama Four Minutes Twelve Seconds at the Tarragon Theatre Extraspace. A thrilling exploration of issues of consent, privilege & the insidious opportunities new technology offers, in a play that has been nominated for an Olivier Award.

PAST EVENT. One night only - Sat, May 4, 2024: Soundstreams presents Grandma’s Shawl, a musical journey inspired by Kokum shawls & the bond between Ukrainian and Indigenous women. This concert features the enchanting voices of Natalya Gennadi (soprano) & Kristine Dandavino (mezzo), accompanied by Jo Greenaway on piano & Oleksandra Fedyshyn on the violin. Curated & directed by Natalya Gennadi, at The Redwood Theatre.
PAST EVENT. Two days only – Sat, May 4 & Sun, May 5, 2024: Theatre Direct Canada presents Forward March Festival 2024 at the George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre. It includes three new interactive plays created especially for kids aged 7-12. Free event. All plays are performed with ASL interpretation or, for plays in ASL, with voiceover in English.
