For one night only, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, Kensington Art Supply hosts a Whimsical India Ink Pet Portraits workshop, where you’ll learn (or improve) ink skills to create fun portraits of your animal friends! All supplies will be included. This workshop is for artists of all levels, and no prior experience with ink is required.
Ready for a bit of fun?
Join artist instructor Yulia Tsinko for this creative and supportive pet portrait workshop. Whether you’ve never touched ink before, or want to up your ink game and learn new skills, this workshop is for you!
Yulia will review the basics of ink painting, and students will learn new techniques as they apply to painting pets, with a special emphasis on animal structure, fur/feathers texture and capturing personality. Students will go through a number of demos and exercises to get acquainted with a range of techniques and tools, from traditional to expressive and experimental, and apply them to create their own mini-paintings. The workshop will balance precision with the freedom of mark-making and whimsical touches, while focusing on creative risk-taking.
About Kensington Art Supply
Located in southeast Calgary, AB, Kensington Art Supply is the largest locally-owned art supply store in Western Canada. Founded in the mid-70s in the Kensington neighbourhood of Calgary under the name Barnes Art Supply, the store evolved over the years, changing ownership and its name to Kensington Art Supply. Now owned by Annette Wichmann and her husband John since 2003, the store moved to its current, much larger space at the beginning of 2014 and is now officially called Kensington Art Supply & Instruction. The shop now includes retail space, two classroom studios and plenty of parking. Read more about their history here.
