Queensland Symphony Orchestra presents: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio

One night only, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, in association with Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, presents Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, featuring a jubilant, divine and timeless collection of orchestral and vocal works by Johann Sebastian Bach, conducted by Benjamin Bayl.

Celebrate the festive season!

Bach’s sublime Christmas Oratorio is an expression of joy and the perfect close to the year. Conductor Benjamin Bayl has chosen a jubilant collection of Bach’s masterworks for this special performance. The sanctity of the nativity and the wonder of the Christmas season sing through pastoral woodwind and triumphant brass, turning the Conservatorium Theatre into a poignant cathedral of sound.

Soloists soprano Sara Macliver, mezzo soprano Stephanie Dillon, tenor Paul McMahon and baritone Shaun Brown are joined by the expressive Brisbane Chamber Choir in performances of the Christmas Oratorio BWV248 and Cantatas I, II, V, VI, all written by Johann Sebastian Bach, a German musician and composer of the late Baroque period.
