Celebrating 100 years Celebrating 100 years

of dance evolution with three incomparable works.

Martha Graham Dance Company

For three performances only, on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, 2025: the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) presents the Martha Graham Dance Company, bringing three unique works to Nashville.

Inspired by America’s people & music

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the Martha Graham Dance Company continues to foster the spirit of ingenuity of its founder, iconic dancer Martha Graham. Showcasing masterpieces by Graham alongside newly commissioned works by contemporary artists, the company’s programs unite the work of choreographers across time within a rich historical and thematic narrative.

Works performed in this engagement were inspired by a variety of sources, including techno club scenes with CAVE, choreography by Hofesh Shechter, and music by Âme and Hofesh Shechter; the American frontier with Appalachian Spring, choreography by Martha Graham and music by Aaron Copland; and American folk music with We the People, choreography by Jamar Roberts and music by Rhiannon Giddens, arranged by Gabe Witcher.

“Unnervingly beautiful… Enduringly radical…”

– Siobhan Burke, The New York Times
