Letterpress Card Workshop

This is your chance!
Learn how to print your own greeting cards on antique letterpress equipment.

In this Saturday morning workshop, you’ll learn the basics of printing imagery and text on Flycatcher Press’ antique letterpress equipment. You will carve a small image of your choice on a linoleum block to print on the front of your card, and set a line of metal type for the inside. You will print using the studio’s tabletop platen and proof presses. Each participant will print at least 12 greeting cards to take home with them. Paper, envelopes & materials will be supplied. You may bring extra paper with you to print on if time allows. Cards will be paper size A2: 4.25 x 5.5″ folded.

Hosted by: Flycatcher Press, a letterpress and printmaking studio in Toronto’s Queen West neighbourhood.

Instructor: Phoebe Todd-Parrish, printmaker and owner of Flycatcher Press. She is also a printmaking instructor who has taught relief and letterpress printing at OCAD University.

Required materials: Paper, envelopes & materials will be supplied. You may bring extra paper with you to print on if time allows. Cards will be A2 size: 4.25 x 5.5″ folded (10.8 cm x 13.97 cm).

Cancellation Policy: In the event you cannot make the course, please contact Flycatcher Press as soon as possible and they will issue you a refund and make your seat available. If it is within 48 hours of the course’s first date, unfortunately your fee will be non-refundable. A minimum of 3 students for every course is required for the course to take place, if they don’t reach this minimum you will be issued a full refund.
