Eldritch Theatre presents: Carolyn Fe’s Grave Songs

For four performances only, from Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30, 2025, Eldritch Theatre presents Carolyn Fe’s Grave Songs, a concert featuring dark and morbid takes on familiar favourites, plus original songs performed by Carolyn Fe, accompanied by Juro Kim Feliz on piano. This is an all-ages event, running at Red Sandcastle Theatre.

A singer emerges from the mouldering, earthly confines of her grave

The Great Intermission (aka pandemic lockdown) of the recent past affected us in ways we could not have fathomed. For actor, singer/songwriter and playwright Carolyn Fe, there was a grain-of-sand-sized twinkle that dimmed into full-blown stage fright – and the singer within her gave up the ghost and died. Her albums and voice, acknowledged worldwide, were silenced and buried deep in the worm-choked earth… until now. Carolyn Fe’s haunting voice will rise from its forlorn tomb for only fleeting apparitions. See and hear familiar songs and her own original material, offered in a dark macabre fashion that has always stained her moribund heart.

“… voice ranges from a husky wisp… to some urgent growling on the 70s rocker “I Can’t Breathe” where she gives a socio-political message to boot. Some a capella moments are riveting… and the mood gets gospel churchy on “Prayer” while some rich folk moods are rich on “Nothin’ Doin.” Her delivery is soft and confessional… and she can hit like thunder… She’s got some fight!”

– George W. Harris, JazzWeekly.com, California (on Fe’s fourth CD Sugat Ko)
