Slasher puppet horror!

Where splatter movies, urban legends, fairytales, Freudian psychology & more collide.

Eldritch Horrors play readings: The Babysitter

A special staged reading series of Eldritch works unearthed from the grave…

Throughout 2024, like carnal gusts of wind billowing from robbed graves, Eldritch Theatre has been cursing their beloved patrons with Eldritch Horrors: Plays from the Tomb, starting with Zombocalypse! , followed by Dear Boss (2004 Outstanding New Play Dora Award Nomination). Their onslaught of terror reaches its horrifying finale with a reading of another undead classic from the past: The Babysitter (2007 Outstanding Production Dora Award Nomination).

One night only, on Monday, June 10, 2024, Eldritch Theatre concludes its Eldritch Horrors: Plays from the Tomb staged reading series with The Babysitter at Red Sandcastle Theatre. Written by Eric Woolfe, and starring Natalia Bushnik, Kimwun Perehinec and Eric Woolfe.

Don’t go out there alone!

The Babysitter is a darkly comedic coming-of-age fable. Fairytales, 70s and 80s splatter films, urban legends and archetypes, Freudian psychology and hook-handed murderous maniacs collide head on in this staged reading of Eldritch Theatre’s Dora award-winning, slasher puppet horror. Children don’t belong in the oven! Originally created in association with Theatre Direct Canada.

Eric Woolfe is one of the city’s genuine, gloriously obsessive originals. No other local theatre company has as completely-defined an aesthetic as his Eldritch Theatre, which specializes in imaginative, lo-fi, old-school horror and mystery stories, with puppetry and a bit of magic thrown into the mix.
