Civil Wray: Live at The Dive Shop

See Civil Wray live on stage on Tue, Sep. 26 at The Dive Shop in Toronto’s east end

Experience her unique, ethereal blues/soul/pop hybrid sounds and poetic, resonant lyrics as she plays new songs from her upcoming five-song EP release “Sparkle”, as well as favourites from her debut self-titled record.

The music project pen name of lead vocalist, singer/songwriter and violinist Andrea de Boer, Civil Wray returns to the stage, backed by the talents of Russ Bosswell on bass and Chris Mitchell on guitar, in a performance with guest artists Just Jillian and Lisa Costa.

 

About Civil Wray

Formed in 2017, Civil Wray began as a soul/blues/rock hybrid project conceived by Andrea de Boer, who audiences may recognize from her previous music project blueVenus. Civil Wray’s debut self-titled record of seven songs received both critical and audience acclaim, with de Boer’s poetic lyrics and unique sound backed up by renowned music talents such as Champagne James Robertson (guitar), Devon Henderson (bass), Robbie Grunwald (keys) and Joshua Van Tassel (drums), plus by de Boer herself on violin.

Following a hiatus that included the COVID-19 pandemic, Civil Wray returns with a new direction. With the January 2023 launch of the lead single “Sparkle” and the subsequent release of the single “About Face”, both from her upcoming five-song EP, Civil Wray has evolved her unique sound and thoughtful lyrics into a captivating blues/soul/pop hybrid dreamscape.

 

About Just Jillian

Toronto-based music artist Just Jillian brings a fusion of indie folk, pop, hip hop and rock to the stage as she promotes her 2019 debut album “What Day Is It”. A multi-talented musician, she plays guitar, keyboards, bass and drums; she is the former lead guitar player for the band ADHD and played keys for Remote Wonder. Just Jillian has performed across the globe, including at CBGB in NYC.

Lisa Costa is an emerging Toronto-based indie folk pop singer/songwriter. You can give her a listen here.
