Bringing readers & writers together to share imaginings & experiences
The Blue Metropolis Foundation presents its annual Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival, one of the largest multilingual literary events in North America, with online access starting Monday, April 15 and taking place in person from Thursday, April 25 to Sunday, April 28 at Hôtel 10 and various other venues around Montreal. Each year, the festival is programmed around a theme; this year’s theme is “Dreams & Utopias”.
The 2024 festival comprises over 150 hosts and authors, 120 events (most are free) and eight languages, with readings, discussions and panels, interviews, workshops and writing activities, and more. This year’s programming includes award-winning Canadian filmmaker/author Sarah Polley in conversation with renowned literary journalist Eleanor Wachtel (online on April 25, in English and French); Eighty Thousand Steps, a podcast walking tour around Montreal presented by CBC and starring international bestselling author Denise Chong (April 27, in English and French); and the workshop Mon Journal – Mon Miroir – on creative journaling, incorporating writing, drawing and collage – by graphic designer Louise Bélisle (April 27, in French); and more.
Captivating interviews and discussions start online April 15, and new ones are added every day. The Bold & Creative podcasts series (online now) offers refreshing perspectives that explore writing practices and career paths. Plus, there is also a range of virtual youth programming.
