Killer B Cinema

Killer B Cinema is a monthly screening event of B-movies from the 1950s to the 1990s, held the first Friday of every month. They also present foreign language adaptations (with English subtitles), plus previews of coming attractions, and retro & vintage pre-show cartoons like 8 Man and Betty Boop.

Founded and hosted by Lizzie Violet and Zoltan Du Lac, Killer B focuses on horror, sci-fi, martial arts films and other cult classics. The screenings are held on the second floor of See-Scape, a sci-fi bar and gaming café located in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood. Killer B offers discounted advance tickets on Eventbrite and limited cash ticket sales at the door on the night of each event. Cash bar service is available in their second-floor screening space, with debit/credit card food and bar service on the first floor (food can be brought up to the second floor).

What we like about this film screening series

We love the retro vibe of Killer B’s film screenings. It’s so much fun to sit with an audience to watch these horror, sci-fi and cult classics, reacting and responding to the action on the screen – heckling is encouraged! And it’s especially cool that there’s always a cartoon before the feature (Cate is a big fan of 8 Man). See-Scape is a perfect fit for this monthly event – a great, relaxed space with an amazing staff and tasty bar menu.

It’s also very cool – and impressive – that, in addition to standard B-movie fare, they also screen foreign language adaptations of horror and superhero classics and other favourites, like Seytan (Turkish Exorcist), Turkish Superman and even Turkish Wizard of Oz! (Zoltan needed to get a friend to translate for the subtitles for that one). And these are movies you won’t likely see screened anywhere else! (Written by C.M.)

Accessibility: The screenings are on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. Washrooms are located on the main floor.
