A journey of discovery in an iconic neighbourhood
The second Friday of every month, immerse yourself in Hamilton’s vibrant art, music and food scenes at Art Crawl on James North. This decade-old event transforms James Street North into a unique celebration of local artists, musicians, galleries, shops and eateries – for all ages. Every month is different, offering new experiences, artists, entertainment and vendors to enjoy.
”Much of Hamilton’s exciting revival can be traced to our downtown core. And there’s probably no better place to start exploring than James Street North.”
– Tourism Hamilton
Set out on foot to explore the street activities (including artists, artisans, performers and food vendors), galleries, shops, restaurants and bars in this vibrant, eclectic neighbourhood. Visit Makers’ Market, just outside the historic Christ Church Cathedral, then marvel at the magical twinkling lights around the artisan and food vendor tents as you enter the Cathedral Place courtyard. Galleries, studios, shops and restaurants stay open late to accommodate the many visitors in attendance every month. All in all, it’s a welcoming space for everyone – and you’ll experience a friendly, unpretentious energy as you wander and visit the various local artists and businesses.
